The AFL provides an AFL Accredited Umpire program and this year, all field, boundary and goal umpires are required to undertake at least Level 1 Accreditation.
For those looking to get into more senior levels of umpiring, a Level 2 Accreditation is required. Accreditation is also required for those umpires wishing to participate in any sort of finals umpiring.
Level 1 Accreditation
Level 1 Accreditation is very straightforward and involves carrying out a simple online test. Most people who have umpired the game will pass this test very easily. Once complete, all you need to do is print the results of the test and give this to your coach or Academy supervisor. They'll then observe you, sign off on the accreditation and then you can get your certificate!
